Clayton Keiber

Clayton Keiber was immersed in the arts at a young age having grown up in a family of artists and eccentrics outside New York City.  His first hand access to the New York arts community as a child helped develop Keiber's passion for film and cultivate his comprehensive understanding of the process, craft and business concerns of the production industry.  Keiber saw an artistic sincerity and respect for the craft in the artists and performers on those sets and stages -- a sincerity that he strives to incorporate in his own work.  He draws inspiration from the New York City theater productions, film sets, and iconic music venues that he has been exposed to all his life.

What separates Keiber from the waves of artists who ape other's styles or defend their foggy message with self righteous pretension is his desire to create a clear, honest, interesting and original dialogue with his audience.  It's an elementary concept, but one that can only be understood after years of practicing and applying your craft.

“Art's most basic function is to connect and communicate. Technique and design can be learned and copied, just as confidence and bravado can be faked.  If a set design, or piece of writing, doesn't accurately convey the tone and emotions intended by the artist, or, the intent is unclear or long winded inasmuch as it is being misinterpreted by the audience, then the piece has failed.”

After graduating from the Film Studies Program at Hofstra University, Keiber began working in the film industry on the East and West Coasts alongside a long list of notable directors, designers, actors and musicians.  Keiber lives in NYC where he works as a Production Designer on commercial and video productions.  His additional credits include producer, director, and camera operator.  He also runs an indie record label called Midriff Records based in NYC, and is the Guitarist in the Boston/ Brooklyn based band, Eldridge Rodriguez.
